4th of July 2012

When I was growing up, and even as a mom,
we would visit Blue Ridge Shores
In Louisa, Va. for their 4th of July celebration.

It was small town U.S.A.
Water races, watermelon eating contest, three legged races, relay games etc. I have memories of winning some of those races as a kid..and it was one of my favorite places to take my kids.
When we moved to Pa. it was just too far to make it a tradition. Then our move to Florida completely nixed it altogether.

I stumbled across the little town of Geneva, literally right down the road from us.
How could we have lived here for 3 years and not known about this cute little town?

They had a parade... Is this the cutest thing you've ever seen?

 Kids on decorated bikes!
You don't get more small town than that!
 Adorable
There are really no words...only in America?

I felt a tad bit embarrassed to be there when these
guys drove by..
I thought this was actually cute..Clay is dying for a 4 wheeler..
not gonna happen!
 Even airplanes!

I love the marching band!
He stopped to play for a sweet lady in front of us.
 sigh..

I love how patriotic everything looks.

so cute

The parade was a solid 30 minutes..
We went inside for cool air and I saw this..
I want one.
 They had chickens for sale..
 Pet chicken?
They put chickens in a cage and the floor was sectioned into numbers..you won if the chicken pooped on your number...hmm
High class entertainment.

This was a nice unexpected treat...

The lady was so nice and took out the really big snake.

Mikaela wasn't having quite as much fun...

Black Belt Recommended

Clay has finally received his black belt. He's been working on it for two years.
He will have to wait six months before he can test for his first degree belt.
We could not be more proud of him!
He is an excellent student, very well behaved, and works hard.

Just before the "class" started.
 Lining up
 Practicing the form

He is being presented with his black belt recommended.

 He's so excited
The parents were allowed to tie it on their children ...considering the time and money involved, we should have gotten black belts too!

 What a great teacher!
When we got home, I wanted to get some nice pictures in the back yard...only problem?
My photography skills suck..o.k. moving on...

 So proud of him!
